The Suffield Arts Council will host new shows in December and January. Stop by the Library and check these out.

In December, Kim Caruso-Poley of Enfield, a Vice President of the Tobacco Valley Artists Association, will feature a collection of paintings using a variety of media, combined with found objects, to create pieces that will amuse and amaze viewers. The artist enjoys experimenting with the newest art forms and materials in her creations. Many are one of a kind. She enjoys challenging herself, to expanding her artistic horizons. Kim received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Central Connecticut State College.

This show is presented through the combined efforts of the Suffield Arts Council, the artist, and the Kent Memorial Library staff. Show dates are December 1 through December 30. A Meet the Artist reception will be held in the gallery on Thursday, December 8, from 6-8 p.m.

January’s exhibit, sponsored by the Trees for Suffield Initiative, will feature photographs submitted by Suffield residents as entries in the group’s contest to determine winners in Four Categories: Single Tree Portrait; Landscape with Multiple Trees; Abstract or Close Up.

Viewers will enjoy seeing all the entries, including contest winners. They will have the opportunity to learn more about the Trees for Suffield Initiative, and how to get involved.

The photo exhibit appears thanks to the efforts of the Initiative, the Suffield Arts Council, and the Kent Memorial Library staff. It will be on display from January 5 through January 31.

A reception for this event will be held in the gallery on Thursday evening, January 12, from 6 – 8 p.m.
