Participants of The Trees for Suffield photo contest enjoy the beautiful fall weather at Sunrise Park.

The Parks and Recreation Department has continued to offer a variety of new, engaging, traditional and fun programs during the fall for children, adults and families to enjoy. On Sunday, October 30, we partnered and hosted two new Photo Scavenger Hunt and Photo Workshops with the Trees for Suffield Imitative and Chad Lemmens of Lemmens Creative Design. It was a beautiful day at Sunrise Park, and we had over thirty registered participants for the event. During this interactive workshop, participants learned tips to help them gain confidence in taking photos and getting outdoors. Instructor Chad Lemmens brought many of his own drones and equipment and demonstrated important and helpful insight on photography. Many of the participants took some terrific photos during the experience and we hope everyone enjoyed the workshop. Sunrise Park was the perfect location to host the workshop, as there are an abundance of beautiful trees and scenery. We encouraged everyone to enter the Trees for Suffield photo contest, whose deadline was November 23. Photo categories included single tree portraits, multi tree landscapes, and close-ups or abstracts of trees, leaves, bark, etc.

2022 Fall Soccer

Over 280 Suffield kids participated in the Fall Parks & Recreation season! The soccer stars in the league learned new skills while having lots of fun. Soccer practices started on Tuesday, September 6. Each Saturday through November 12, players participated in games against one another. There were many goals scored and tremendous sportsmanship all around throughout the season! Our volunteer coaches did a tremendous job each week, planning practices and putting all their effort into the season with one goal in mind: providing the kids with a fun soccer experience.
Wednesday, October 12 was Parks & Recreation Night at the Suffield Girls Varsity Soccer Game. Before the game, our Parks & Recreation players were on the field during introductions to give the Varsity Soccer players High Fives as they ran onto the field. The pregame soccer field was illuminated by Parks & Recreation players wearing their team’s-colored jerseys. The night was a success and gave our Parks & Recreation players some inspiration as to where they will be playing in a couple of years.

2022 Fall Flag Football Season

The Suffield Parks & Recreation Department held our first ever Fall Flag Football season this year! Participants ran, threw, and caught many touchdowns throughout the season. The season taught the kids many useful football skills while they were having fun playing with their teammates. We would like to thank all our coaches, referees, and parents enough for all their time and effort this season. We are looking forward to running the season again in the spring and continuing to build the program.
