The budget process has been completed by the Board of Finance. A Town Meeting will be held on May 10 at 7 p.m. for approval. The mill rate will remain flat. It’s been a long process, but thank you to all involved for your hard work: Board Finance, Board of Education, Board of Selectmen, all Department Heads and Finance Director, Eric Remington.
Our planning continues for the 2nd Annual Suffield Summer Fair. It will be held June 16-18. Fireworks will be on Friday night. If you know any local vendors who may be interested in coming, have them sign up on the Town website. We are also looking for volunteers to assist us again this year and sign up can be found on the “Volunteer” section of our website. Look for final details about the Fair in June’s updates.
Mark your calendars for the Garden Club’s May market on Saturday, May 20 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts are finally completed between the middle school and McAlister.
Updates to the Town garage continue. New paving around it was completed towards the end of April.
The Suffield Greater Together Community Fund recently awarded over $31,000 in grants to nine various groups in town. You can find more information on our Town website.
Tamer’s Witness Stone has been installed and a program was held at the Library by Bill Sullivan of the Suffield Academy, his students, and Suffield Historical Society. The stone which honors the life of an enslaved person, Tamer, who lived in Suffield for a period of time can be found between the library and Veterans Memorial.
We recently hired Chad Kuzontkoski as our part-time Economic Development Specialist. Chad lives in town, and we are excited to have him join our team. Welcome Chad!
We’ve narrowed down our search for a Fire Chief to two candidates. We hope to have a new Chief by the beginning of this month.
