Kent Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Program
Starting June 19, come in to register for Summer Reading and join in the fun! This year’s theme is All Together Now. We have a fun lineup of library programs scheduled for kids, teens, and adults along with a fabulous selection of raffle prizes. Thank you to the Friends of the Kent Memorial Library for their support.

Movies at the Library

KML Tech Time –  Every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m.
Do you want help with your laptop, smartphone, or tablet? Don’t let technology frustration hold you back – come to KML Tech Time! Whether you need help troubleshooting an issue, setting up a new device, or downloading eBooks and eAudiobooks, we’ve got you covered! No registration required. First come, first served.

Rise to the Challenge Book Group – Monday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m.
Join us in reading and discussing books that have been challenged and/or banned. June’s discussion will focus on The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Copies of the book are available at the library. Registration is encouraged.

Fiber Friendly – Wednesdays, June 14 and 28 at 4 p.m.
Are you someone who likes to knit, crochet, embroider, or engage in any other fiber-related interests? Join us on alternate Wednesdays for conversation, camaraderie and fiber artistry. Bring a project you’re working on or start something new! No registration required. Open to all ages; people under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Teen Programs

Nutmeg Book Club – Thursday, June 15 at 3:30 p.m.
Join us for the Nutmeg Book Club, Intermediate Edition where we’ll read 2024 nominee Ben Yokoyama and the Cookie of Doom by Matthew Swanson and Robbi Behr. When Ben gets a fortune cookie that says, “Live each day as if it were your last,” he better get going on his bucket list before the clock strikes midnight!

Slime-a-palooza! – Thursday, June 22 at 3:30 p.m.
Come one, come all to Slime-a-palooza! Kids ages 5-18 are invited to create slime: Fluffy slime? Butter slime? Sparkle slime? Yeah, we’ve got that. While supplies last.

Geometric Watercolor – Thursday, June 29 at 3:30 p.m.
We’re painting with watercolor this week! Geometric patterns are the plan, or you can do your own thing – art is what you make it!

Kid Programs

Rhyme Time – Fridays, June 2, 9, 23, and 30 at 10:30 a.m.
Recommended for ages 5 and under
Bring your singing voice! We sing, dance, blow bubbles — and have fun! No registration required.

Create A Book Display with Ms. Sandy! – Mondays throughout Summer, 11 a.m. – noon, Starting Monday, June 19
Book an hour with Ms. Sandy and help her create a book display. Pick a theme, or share your favorite books, and learn how to find the books on the shelf. Grades 2 and up. Registration is required. Please only register for one this summer.

Lego Club – Monday, June 19 at 3:30 p.m. Recommended Ages 4+. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Join us for Lego Club! Participate in our building theme of the month, or construct whatever you can dream up. No registration required. Friends of Kent Memorial Library fund this program.
