Adult Programs

Rise to the Challenge Book Group: Monday, September 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Join us in reading and discussing books that have been challenged and/or banned. Copies of September’s discussion book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon are available at the library. Registration is encouraged but not required.

BJ Smith Book Discussion Series: Tuesday, September 12 at 3 p.m.
BJ Smith returns to lead another fascinating book discussion. The second in this book series will be One Day by David Nichols. Copies of the book are available at the library. Registration is required.

Fiber Friendly: Wednesdays, September 6 and 20 at 4 p.m.
Are you someone who likes to knit, crochet, embroider, or engage in any other fiber-related interests? Join us on alternate Wednesdays for conversation, camaraderie, and fiber artistry.
Bring a project you’re working on or start something new! No registration required. Open to all ages. People under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Free, Confidential Social Services Consultations: Appointments Available Thursday, September 21
Pat Beeman, MSW from Suffield Community Aid, is offering free initial Social Services Consultations on the third Thursday of each month at Kent Memorial Library. Make an appointment if you need help. Space is limited. Visit our online Events Calendar to register.

Books and Beyond: Thursday, September 21 at 7 p.m. via Zoom
Join us for a book discussion with Shelby Van Pelt, author of Remarkably Bright Creatures, a charming, witty and compulsively readable exploration of friendship, reckoning, and hope that traces a widow’s unlikely connection with a giant Pacific octopus. Registration is required.

KML Tech Time: Every Wednesday from 1-3 p.m.
Do you want help with your laptop, smartphone, or tablet? Don’t let technology frustration hold you back – come to KML Tech Time! Whether you need help troubleshooting an issue, setting up a new device, or downloading eBooks and eAudiobooks, we’ve got you covered! No registration required. First come, first served.

Kids Programs

Story Time: Wednesdays, September 6, 13, 20, 27 at 10:30 a.m. and Tuesdays, September 12, 19, 26, October 3 at 10: 30 a.m.
Stories, activities, songs, and a craft. Ages 2-5. Registration appreciated, drop-ins welcomed. Register for each story time separately.

Rhyme Time: Fridays, September 8, 15, 22, and 29 at 10:30 a.m.
Bring your singing voice! We sing, dance, blow bubbles — and have fun! Drop in. Recommended ages 0-5.

Lego Club: Monday, September 18 at 3:30 p.m.
Join us for Lego Club! Participate in our building theme of the month, or construct whatever you can dream up. No registration required. Recommended ages 4+. Children under the age of ten must be accompanied by an adult. Thank you to the Friends of the Kent Memorial Library for funding this program.

Talk Like a Pirate Day! Tuesday, September 19 – All Day
Join us in the KML Kids’ room for Talk Like a Pirate Day shenanigans! We’ll have lots of swashbuckling fun. We’ll see you there, mateys!

Teen Programs

Nutmeg Book Club: Thursday, September 21 at 3:30 p.m.
Join us for a discussion of 2024 Nutmeg Book Award Middle Grade nominee, Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston. No registration required. Books are available for checkout. Open to people in grades 4 and up.

Minute to Win It: Thursday, September 28 at 3:30 p.m.
Are you ready to race against the clock? Join us for games of skill (and maybe a little luck!) with a twist. Sure, you can complete the challenges, but can you do it in 60 seconds? Open to people in grades 4 and up. No registration required.
