The North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce (NCCCC), representing the towns of East Windsor, Enfield, Somers and Suffield, has added 70 new members this year for a total of 250, according to President Linda Cote. She credits the association’s new Director of Membership and Events, Connie Provencher, for much of that 40% growth.

In August, the Chamber gathered at Hilltop Farm to network. The leadership team conveyed such a positive, enthusiastic, member-centric attitude that it’s no wonder they’ve grown so much. “New members are assigned an ambassador or board member for the first year who mentors them, introduces them to like businesses and makes connections for them,” said Cote.

First-year special treatment also includes a free luncheon along with free and discounted admission to various Chamber events.

“Throughout the year the association hosts monthly networking and after-hour events”, said Executive Director Karen Campbell. “We have members who claim they don’t have to advertise solely because a lot of their business comes from networking and referrals from clients they meet through the Chamber.”

The association also supports ribbon-cutting events and partners with local government officials to keep them informed about their constituent’s businesses. “Plus, we advocate for our members,” said Cote. “For instance, if they have plans going before a planning and zoning committee and they need letters of support, we’ll help.”
