Cub Scout Troop 266’s Summer Events

Cub Scout Pack 266 had a great summer. Over the summer break we continued to stay active and get together for fun activities. We are looking forward to a new Scout year full of fun and adventure.

In June, we kicked off the summer with a Pack campout here at beautiful Sunrise Park. There was hiking, fishing, a traditional campfire, traditional S’mores and S’Moreros (A S’more made with Oreo instead of graham crackers). In addition, the Pack went for an aerial adventure at iFly in Westchester, New York where we did indoor skydiving which included a high flight. While there the cubs also took part in a STEM lesson where they learned some science and physics before taking to the air.

For July, the Pack attended Operation: Starbase. This is a weeklong STEM day camp at the local air base where cubs had hands on minds on activities. This included simulating getting supplies to a remote planet by having to safely design a craft to deliver an egg unbroken to the ground and culminating in a group rocket launch.

Finally, in August, the Pack went for a hike at Northwest Park and did their good turn for the day picking up trash while they were on the trails. It was great to stay active, and now that the Scout year has begun in full swing, we would love for you and your family to join in the adventure! Pack 266 is open to all youth from kindergarten to fifth grade. We meet at the West Suffield Congregational Church. Our meetings are usually the first and third Monday of the month.
