The month of October brings a variety of events for all ages as we take advantage of the last few opportunities for some outdoor events and get ready to move inside for the cold weather to come.

We are repeating two of our events from last year and adding a few new ones. The annual Blessing of Animals in honor of St Francis of Assisi will take place in the meditation garden on Saturday, Oct 7 at 10 a.m. rain or shine. All are welcome to bring the family pet(s) either on a leash, in a carrier or harness for the safety of the animals and people. There is no charge, and all are welcome!

As part of an Eagle Scout project, we are adding a “Mary Garden ” to our campus next to Fr. Ted Hall. The statue formerly on the St. Joseph property has been cleaned and set up to greet our religious education students and guests. A dedication ceremony and outdoor rosary are being planned as the work is completed. The garden is being funded by donations from our members and friends.

In the middle of the month, we are having our first ever parish family Barn Dance. This family friendly event will provide opportunities to square dance, line dance or learn how.

Within the Archdiocese of Hartford, we are preparing to welcome our new Archbishop. In a Mass of Welcome at the Cathedral of St Joseph in Hartford, Archbishop Coyne will be received by the community. The Mass will take place on Monday, Oct. 9 at 2 p.m.
