Director’s Corner

As the season of giving approaches, our hearts are filled with gratitude at the Suffield Senior Center. With utmost sincerity, we are so thankful for our community of patrons, volunteers, instructors and employees. Please take a moment to express gratitude towards those who contribute towards making Suffield a wonderful community to live, work and play. A special thank you to Instructor Joseph Hicks who has been partnering with the town of Suffield teaching various Parks and Recreation and Senior Center fitness programs for the past ten years. Best of luck to you as you embark on your new journey in Texas! While we are sad to see Joseph go, this is a great opportunity for our other established instructors to expand the classes they teach, and to welcome a few new highly qualified ones to our family. We are excited to continue to help you achieve your fitness goals through our programs!

We are so excited to announce that our wonderful Yoga and Pilates Instructor, Michelle Rancourt, will be continuing the Active and Fit classes! Michelle is a Certified Personal Trainer and has been coaching health and wellness for 10 plus years. Michelle has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Central Connecticut State University, as well as certifications in senior fitness, nutrition, strength training and yoga. Michelle will continue the classes with the focus on improving mobility and balance and strengthening muscles. The Active and Fit Tuesday and Thursday classes are for all levels of mobility with modifications available to best suit your level of movement. The Active and Fit Advanced Monday, Wednesday and Friday classes are for those looking for a challenge while performing exercises with weights, and bands. Feel free to stop by and check out a class to see if it’s right for you, and introduce yourself to Michelle!

Have a great month!
