Your Family Tree

Celebrate your love for those around you by creating a Family Tree for Valentine’s Day. Join the Suffield Parks and Recreation Department and Trees for Suffield for a fun evening creating your own special Tree.

Members of Suffield’s Sibbil Dwight Kent chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will help lead you on this journey. Get inspired by a piece of family history as one member shares her own cherished Family Tree created in 1906 and dating back to 1746, then get to work on your own modern day version. There is no experience necessary. Your tree can be as simple or as detailed as you want. Either way, we will help guide you through the steps of adding loved ones to the twigs and branches that make your tree strong. Family members can work together on one tree, or each create their own. You decide how detailed or kid-friendly to make your tree by identifying grandparents, parents, step parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives with their full names or just the names you call them by. Use Catherine Alexander Smith or Aunt Cathy, it’s up to you.

We hope this project sparks an interest in knowing more about your family history, or inspires you to plant a tree to honor or commemorate a family member or special event in your life.
Day/Date/Time: Thursday, February 1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Ages: All ages welcome
Fee: $10.00 per person. (Pizza and snacks will be served. The price also includes all crafting supplies)
Donations to the Trees for Suffield will also be accepted at the event.
