Registration is open for Presidents’ College, the Lifelong Learning Program at the University of Hartford for adults 50+. Taught by professors and community experts, the program’s 1.5-hour lectures and short (2-3 session) non-credit courses include topics like the arts, history, current events, literature, science, and engineering. There is no membership fee, and students pay a modest amount for only those courses they wish to take.

Navigating Discussions Across Political Divides, Appreciating Guitar Music, Shakespeare’s Major Tragedies, Neurodiversity, Northern Ireland, and Trials That Shaped America are among the many topics for courses and lectures. Included in the winter offerings is a discussion between former Hartford Courant staff music critic Steve Metcalf and his daughter, Laura Metcalf, on the making of a musician. Laura Metcalf, a cellist who grew up in West Hartford, and husband Rupert Boyd, a classical guitarist, comprise Boyd Meets Girl. The duo will play in the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s Masterworks series February 9-11. Further information is available at hartford.edu/pc. Or email pcollege@hartford.edu or call 860.769.4495 with questions or to be added to the mailing list.
