The Kent Memorial Library is excited to announce their upcoming Books & Beyond event featuring Rachel Beanland, the author of The House Is on Fire. Be sure not to miss out on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

During the event, Beanland will delve into her latest novel, which provides a poignant and powerful account of the 1811 Virginia theater fire and its aftermath while also tackling the deeply ingrained issues of racism and misogyny during the time period.

Based on the true story of Richmond’s theater fire, the book offers proof that sometimes, in the midst of great tragedy, we are offered our most precious—and fleeting—chances at redemption.

Fast-moving, character-driven and action-packed, The House Is on Fire is simply a thrill to read. With her eloquent prose and moving storytelling, the audience is sure to be captivated. This is an incredible opportunity, and we hope you will join us.

Pick up your copy at Kent Memorial Library. E-book and audio book is also available on Libby.
