Community Fund Seeks Grant Applications

The Suffield Greater Together Community Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving (HFPG) has awarded grants in its most recent grant cycle totaling $22,811 to six different groups that support the Suffield community. The funds awarded are intended to enhance the quality of life or otherwise contribute to solving a direct need of the Suffield community.

The grant recipients, and the projects the funds will support, are:

  • Cub Scout Pack 266 – Updating Broken and Outdated Equipment
  • Operation Fuel, Inc. – Emergency Energy Assistance for Suffield
  • Sibbil Dwight Kent NSDAR, Inc. – Old Center Cemetery Restoration and Preservation
  • Suffield Cooperative Preschool – Scholarship Fund
  • The Friends of the Farm at Hilltop, Inc. – Hilltop Farm Welcome Center Internet Installation
  • The Suffield Players, Inc. – Fire & Electrical Codes Compliance Upgrades

Organizations that support the Suffield community are encouraged to apply for a grant by the April 15, 2024, deadline. To be considered, an organization must be registered as a non-profit organization (NPO) with a 501(c)(3) designation as a public charity or must obtain a fiscal agent registered as a 501(c)(3). The Suffield Greater Together Community Fund was created by the HFPG in 2019. The Fund was initially started with $100,000 from the Foundation to support the needs of Suffield residents. Additional funds have been added to the fund in subsequent years to support ongoing grantmaking efforts.

The purpose of the Greater Together Community Funds program is to:

  • support the community in taking ownership around the needs in their towns.
  • encourage broad and inclusive civic engagement.
  • anchor the Hartford Foundation in Suffield and 28 other towns in the region.
