No, the Phantom of the Opera has not visited West Suffield Congregational Church. We’ve painted (the inside of the church this time)! There’s the most gorgeous, deep burgundy carpeting going in as well. We at WSCC are so excited for the fall, and the beginning of our church year. When we return on September 8, it will be to a new sanctuary. We spent countless hours researching colors and how they interact with each other. We wanted to maximize the beauty of our stained-glass windows. We hope you stop in for a look-see.
In the meantime, we’re very excited to be back at SOTG! We will be making beaded friendship bracelets again, the children really seemed to enjoy that last year. I am crossing my fingers that I can get permission to get dunked again this year. One of my favorite Sunday School kids dropped me into the tank on his first pitch, and the look of sheer joy on his face made my weekend. We hope you stop by and visit, either just to chat and say hello or to make yourself a bracelet. They are our gift to the community and represent the long friendship our church has had with the people of this town. There will even be a special charm, commemorating it.
Opening worship will be at 10 a.m. on the 8th. The choir will be in full force, the membership will be sharing hugs and catching up. We will have a traditional potluck, following worship, along with corn hole, a bounce house and a carnival theme for the children. Then I will head back up to the Green for more beading.
I feel so blessed by our congregation. Their warmth and their joy at being together has always felt, to me, like what church should be. Please feel free to stop in at any time, because no matter where you are on life’s journey, there is a pew waiting for you at West Suffield Congregational (once the drop cloths get picked up).
Blessings on your day, and on the coming year. Pastor Denise.
