The North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce recognizes a SHS student each month who has demonstrated exceptional kindness. For September, junior, Andrew Fiore received the honor after nominations from SHS faculty and staff. Miss Blais, wrote, “Drew has always been a positive force within my Wildcat. He is super friendly, always saying hi to everyone (teachers included) and asking how they are doing. On top of this–when students had extra time in Wildcat recently, a fellow student was struggling with math work and Drew stopped what he was doing to help explain the problems to him. He did a great job being encouraging (while not just giving the answers!)”.

Congratulations Drew! The NCCCC is making a donation in Drew’s honor to the Trevor Project. If you would like to make a donation, please go to: give.thetrevorproject.org.

Fellow junior, Marie Conley received the Kindness Award for October. Mrs. Haefner, who wrote, “Marie is incredibly dedicated to service work and genuinely cares for others. After completing her cooking and cleaning tasks, she always checks in with me to see how she can assist with any extra cleanup or tasks. During Wildcat Flex, she helps me organize and prepare materials for upcoming classes. She has never asked for bonus points – it’s just her being kind. She regularly inquires about my day, showing her thoughtfulness and kindness. When a student was confused about their schedule and mistakenly believed they had signed up for a cooking club class, Marie stepped in to help. She offered to give the student a tour of the kitchen and explained how to use the three-compartment sinks. Her warm approach made the student feel welcomed and included. She has a heart of gold. I am very lucky to have her in class!” Congratulations Marie! The NCCCC is making a donation in Marie’s honor to Morgan’s Message. Congratulations to Drew and Marie for demonstrating exceptional kindness and setting a great example for others!
