The Suffield Music Booster Association, Inc. (SMBA) is a 501c(3) organization that began in November of 2023 by a small group of Suffield High School music student parents with a mission to support the enrichment of music education at Suffield High School, primarily through fundraising and volunteer work. The Booster Club is primarily made up of parents who have students in the band and choir, but family and community members are also welcome to participate and volunteer. In about eight short months, they were able to raise over $3,000 in their first school year (2023-2024), and were able to help support the Music Department’s trip to Disney last spring and organize an end of year celebration.

This year they continue their fundraising efforts to help support the Music Department’s overnight trip to Boston in April. The musical highlight for the students will be to take part in a competitive performance at the “Festivals of Music” in Duxbury, Mass. They will perform before judges who will provide feedback and a rating. The students will also have the opportunity to watch other schools perform. Also on the trip, they plan to visit Faneuil Hall and the Aquarium, see a Blue Man Group performance and venture out onto a Duck Boat tour. The Booster Club hopes to raise funds to decrease the cost of the trip with a target of about $6,500.

The Booster Club plans to sell concessions and roses at the Drama Club’s performance of A Christmas Carol (12/13, 12/14 and 12/15), hold a bake sale at the student’s Coffee House Talent Show (1/29). The Club’s biggest plans yet are to hold a raffle with cash prizes beginning mid-December with the drawing to take place at the Coffee House. The Booster Club anticipates that tickets will be available for purchase from families of band and choir students, at the Drama Club performances, the winter music concert (12/17), the Coffee House, and around town.

If you would like to help us meet our goal or volunteer, please email President Andrea Marcavitch at suffieldmusicboosters@gmail.com or follow us on Facebook by searching “Suffield Music Booster Association, Inc.”. The Booster Club meets the second Wednesday of every month at Three Figs restaurant in Suffield at 7 p.m. and is happy to welcome new folks.
