McAlister students participated in a before school mural art class this winter. Twenty-seven kids who love art and are passionate about what they are doing worked with art teacher, Mrs. Bourque, to create a ten-foot kindness mural. As a group, they decided to dedicate the mural to the memory of Megan Voisine and to thank Mr. and Mrs. Voisine for all the money and kindness they have spread through the Meghan Voisine Kindness Fund.

Students pose proudly with their new Kindness Matters mural .
The mural was created by painting, drawing and collaging. The theme was kindness matters and was part of the 2024-2025 Global Mural Project that promotes community around the world.
In December, the students invited Mr. and Mrs. Voisine to class and surprised them with a dedication ceremony. Superintendent, Mr. Dunbar, Assistant Superintendent, Mrs. Zawawi Superintendent, Principal Mrs. Pryce, and Asst. Principal, Mrs. Todd, also joined the students. The mural was unveiled, and a speech was given by students which dedicated the mural to the memory of Meghan Voisine and thanked Mr. and Mrs. Voisine for all the money they donated to spreading kindness in Suffield. Mr. and Mrs. Voisine were so surprised and thankful. They told us that it was the best Christmas present that they could get this year!
The mural will be featured at the district-wide art show this spring, so we continue to spread kindness throughout Suffield. We are so thankful to everyone who wants to spread kindness in and around Suffield, so thank you to Mrs. Bourque, Mr. and Mrs. Voisine and of course all our parents for bringing us to school early each week!
