Conservation Commission – Dec. 10, 2024
Plan Acceptance: The following had applications accepted and were moved to the Jan. 14, 2025 meeting. Permit # 1718 – Burke (owner) – SFH – Lakeview Drive. This property is located at 407 Lakeview Drive. Permit # 1719 – Roy (owner) – Garage – Thompsonville Road. This property is located at 331 Thompsonville Road. Permit # 1720 – Burrell (owner) – Site work – Forest Road.

Planning and Zoning Commission – December 16, 2024
Director of Planning & Development, Mr. Hawkins distributed copies of the “Affordable Housing Committee Recommendations of Support Affordable Housing in Suffield” and the “Draft Affordability Plan” that were submitted to the Board of Selectman (BOS) by the Town’s Affordable Housing Committee. Within the report are six recommendations that the Affordable Housing Committee made specifically to the PZC that Mr. Hawkins reviewed. It was suggested that a joint meeting with members of the Affordable Housing Committee would be helpful and getting public input may also be helpful.

Special meeting of Advisory Commission on Capital Expenditures – Dec. 17, 2024
Lee Corbet Director of Public Works presented requests for FY 25-26 to ACCE which included Highway Department requests for three vehicles to replace current vehicles in the town fleet. The Landfill requests included a new scale, two 40-yard dumpsters and a 20-yard recycling container. Facilities requests included three A/C condensers for the Kent Memorial Library, an Elevator Modernization at Town Hall, an automatic entrance gate at the landfill and cameras for Firehouses 2, 3 and 4. Mr. Corbert also requested an A/C Machine to allow our in-house mechanic to service all town vehicles.

Special Meeting of Board of Selectmen – Dec. 17, 2024
Vote to approve proposed Charter Revisions, reject or recommend revisions to the proposed Charter Revisions and refer to the Charter Revision Commission.

Chairman Harrington Motioned to recommend changes back to the Charter Revision Commission to include that all three positions: the Treasurer, the Tax Collector and the Town Clerk be appointed, or hired as the case may be, and that this be communicated to the Charter Revision Commission through the First Selectman with assistance from the Town Attorney in a letter form. The letter should include a recommendation that the Charter Revision Commission listen to the recorded minutes of the November 20, 2024 Board of Selectmen meeting as it relates not only to the Charter Revision Commission recommendations, but the Tax Collection issue as well. Motion passed.

Suffield Economic Development Commission – December 19, 2024
Ms. Demko reported on the informational kiosk by the library. The kiosk would have easily accessible information linked to the Town website, including police updates, suicide prevention, drug questions, local events, business listings, library, parks and recreation programs, town events, and historic walking tours. Chad Kuzontkoski distributed his EDC report which summarized the activities in the Light Industrial, Commercial and Town Center Village District zones for the month. He noted the success of the Small Business Week Passport program, expanded this year and the annual Suffield Alight event. It was noted that Suffield Village Market worked with Suffield Community Aid to give 10 local families Thanksgiving baskets which included a turkey and traditional side dishes.

Town Meeting – December 19, 2025
After presentation and discussion, the Town voted to approve the authorization of General Obligation Bonds for the following:

•An Appropriation of $5,230,000 for The Emergency Services Radio Project
•An Appropriation of $3,840,000 for The Suffield High School HVAC Project And The
•An Appropriation Of $210,000 for The McAlister Intermediate School HVAC Project

Special Meeting of the Board of Selectmen – Jan. 2, 2025
Selectman Harrington Motioned to approve the appointment of Klaire Bielonko to fill Jerry Mahoney’s vacancy on the Board of Selectmen through November 18, 2025.

First Selectman Mol expressed his thanks to former selectman Jerry Mahoney for his work and service to the community. Voted 4-0 in favor.
