As part of the Suffield Arts Council programs, this month the works of Kim Velky will be displayed at the Kent Memorial Library. Kim, a Granville, MA resident, is a self-taught artist, working in acrylics, to paint a variety of colorful subjects, including landscapes, seascapes, trees, plants, flowers, animals, and more.

Inspired early by PBS artist Bob Ross and his “Happy Little Trees”, she found supplies and would paint along with him and was fascinated with the results.
She gave up painting for many years, to raise a family of three, while running a daycare. Her husband was away, serving in the Navy at the time.
She began painting again in 2015 and found new enjoyment in the process. Though she has had no formal training, she enjoys developing her own style, and having more time for painting, as her children are now grown.
Viewers may view this display during February, in the Pinney Gallery of the Library from February 2–28. A “Meet the Artist” Reception is scheduled for Thursday, February 12, from 6 – 8 p.m.
This show is made possible through the joint efforts of the Suffield Arts Council, the artist and the Kent Memorial Library staff.
