First Church welcomes all to join in weekly Sunday worship at 10 a.m., in-person or virtually through the church YouTube livestream, continuing on the journey “Together for Joy!” All are welcome at First Church of Christ, Congregational UCC of Suffield. No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.
Pastor Chris Hart continues leading worship as Interim Minister. Pastor Chris preaches Sunday mornings and offers faithful engagement for all ages during worship services.
April 2 at 7 p.m., First Church invites you to a service that commemorates the final hours of Jesus’ life on this earth. Maundy Thursday is the day Jesus celebrated Passover with his disciples for the last time and gave them a new commandment: to love one another as he loved them. “Mandatum” is Latin for “commandment” which has been shortened to “Maundy” much to the confusion of Christians ever since. This service of tenebrae, or a service of darkness, commemorates the suffering and death of Jesus. This service is the most-beloved service of the year.
Good Friday, the sixth day of Holy Week, commemorates the trial, crucifixion, and burial of Jesus Christ. On this day, we enter into a period of mourning as we try to imagine the amount of callous abuse and suffering that Jesus endured in order to give each of us the gift of salvation. Pastor Chris Hart will lead a Good Friday Service on April 3 at 12 p.m. in the Chapel.
“Christ is Risen! He is Risen, indeed!” April 5, Easter Sunday, is a joyous holiday because it represents defeat of death and the hope of salvation. First Church offers two opportunities to worship on Easter Sunday. At 6 a.m., a community led worship will be held at Sunrise Park. All are welcome- be sure to check the weather, wear comfortable shoes and dress accordingly!
At 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday, the bells at First Church will ring in jubilant celebration! Join us in the Sanctuary for a rousing, faithful, and music-filled worship service. No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, YOU are welcome here! Join us in worship in-person or through YouTube live-stream.
