Like so many in Suffield, I am looking forward to the annual Suffield on the Green. Once again members of our Knights of Columbus Council will be helping our community come together to relax and enjoy all the things that make Suffield such a great place to live and work. The Knights are helping to organize the event as well as provide some delicious food and refreshments. Together with the Knights, our parish family is once again hosting free rides on the Ramblin’ Railroad. This is open to all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). Tickets will be required and can be obtained at our parish booth in the corner of the green.
While you are picking up your tickets, check out some of the events and ministries coming this fall to Sacred Heart Parish. Just like the school year, our faith formation programs will be gearing up. Students in grades 1-9 should register for Religious Education classes. Our adult formation process is getting underway as well. If you or someone you know is in grade 10 or above and would like to prepare to receive the sacraments, contact the parish office at 860-668-4246. Our monthly “Pray Date” for our youngest members allows parents with children from newborn up to nine years old to come together for some prayer time together in church and then an activity and refreshments for the children and adults. It is a wonderful time to learn about the faith and build a community. For our teen members we have just introduced a new ministry to assist them in living their faith. A student-driven group will be meeting regularly to explore the faith issues our young men and women are experiencing in a relaxed atmosphere which will hopefully strengthen them and our parish family.
No matter how young or old, all are invited to join us for our weekend Masses, daily Mass, Reconciliation and Eucharistic Adoration. We offer communal rosary every Tuesday morning beginning around 7:30 and the First Sunday of every month at 8 a.m. Please join us on the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, September 15 at 6 p.m. in our Mary Garden on the east side of our campus. Refreshments will follow in Fr. Ted Hall.
As always, a full list of the liturgies, devotions, ministries and events is available on our parish website at www.sacredheartct.com or on our Facebook page at Sacred Heart, Suffield.
Have a blessed September and I look forward to seeing you on the Green!
