People viewing Barbara Groff’s fantastic still life paintings for the first time often say “wow” and then, “That’s pastel? Amazing!”

The Suffield Arts Council was pleased to present a collection of Barbara’s work in Suffield in the William Pinney Gallery of the Kent Memorial Library during August and invited you to view the work of an artist whose art has received countless awards including Gold and Silver International recognition, and selections in national art magazines! A member of several art groups, her work is prized by collectors.

This show opened on August 3 and ran through August 31. A “Meet the Artist” reception was held on Thursday, August 13, in the Gallery. Both original pieces and prints were on sale there.

This event was made possible thanks to Barbara Groff, the Suffield Arts Council, and the Kent Memorial Library staff.

In September, viewers can enjoy the work of a group of local artists, in a variety of media, known as Artists At the Crossroads, formed in 1981, of members from northern Connecticut, and western Massachusetts. Most are active in multiple organizations and art activities throughout New England.

Many have achieved recognition and awards, including First Place and Best in Show for their efforts, examples of which you’ll find in this show.

Members will host a Meet the Artists Reception on Thursday evening, September 10, from 6 – 8 p.m. This event is open to the public. All are welcome. This show closes on September 30.

This event was made possible by the Artists at the Crossroads, The Suffield Arts Council and the Kent Memorial Library staff.
