First Church of Christ, Congregational UCC welcomes all to join in weekly Sunday worship at 10 a.m., in-person or virtually through the church YouTube livestream. Following a wonderful return to worship last month, the congregation continues its spiritual journey under the leadership of Pastor Chris Hart, what Church extends an extravagant welcome to friends, neighbors, and newcomers alike. No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here at First Church of Christ.
October at First Church brings worship, community outreach, and autumn activities! Following a wonderful return to worship in September and a great time at Suffield on the Green hosting science demos, chalk art masterpieces, a prayer tree and other fun faith activities, the church welcomes all to join us in worship on Sunday mornings!
Open to all neighbors under the principle of “take what you need; leave what you can,” the church encourages the public to donate shelf-stable food and basic hygiene items at any time.
The Chancel Choir has returned and is welcoming new members! High School age and above are welcome to join for one rehearsal, or all of them, and make a joyful noise! For musicians who used to play, the Dusty Orchestra offers a fun space for anyone who has ever played an instrument to dust it off and make music again. Additionally, the Congregational Choir provides an easy, all-ages opportunity where you can simply show up that morning, rehearse briefly and sing during worship. If you are interested in any of these musical opportunities, contact the church and let us know.
Pastor Chris’ open office hours are Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 11 a,m, to 1 p.m.. He will also host pub hours on Tuesday, October 6 at 6 p.m. at Tavern 1927 at the Suffield Country Club. The community outreach at First Church continues outside its doors. The Blessing Box at 81 High Street remains available 24/7 for non-perishable donations. Open to all neighbors under the principle of “take what you need; leave what you can,” the church encourages the public to donate shelf-stable food and basic hygiene items at any time.
First Church serves as a vital meeting space by hosting Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous groups in the building on a weekly basis. Neighbors and members can stay connected to these support meetings and autumn events by visiting the church website.
