Senior Center & Mini Bus News – November 2026

Bethany Sullivan | Director’s Corner

As a reminder, our mini bus transportation has moved to a new scheduling program. You must call in your rides to Marzena by 8 a.m. the prior business day. If you want a ride on Monday, you must have called by 8 a.m. the Friday before. If we have a long weekend such that we are closed on Monday and you want a ride on Tuesday, you must have called by 8 a.m. the Friday before. Thank you for your understanding.

Due to the success of the Diabetes Education Program and the extremely positive participant feedback, we will be hosting a Diabetes Prevention Program. Grant backing from the North Central Connecticut Area Agency on Aging is funding a 26-week class through Monitor My Health, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The class is designed for adults with prediabetes or those at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Here’s what participants should know:

•You should pre-register with Bethany.
* The first class is Friday, November 6 at 10 a.m..
•The program is 26 weeks of 1-hour weekly group classes with post-class exercise.
•The focus is on healthy eating, physical activity, weight management, and reducing type 2 diabetes risk.
•Support/resources include post-class exercise, 1:1 sessions with a Registered Dietitian, a Certified Lifestyle Coach, a Certified Fitness Trainer and educational materials.

Lastly, Thanksgiving is coming and I would be remiss if I did not thank all of the staff and volunteers that make the Senior Center the wonderful place it is! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
