Join us for worship and communion in our sanctuary at 100 North Main Street on Sunday, September 6 at 10 a.m.
This year Suffield on the Green will take place September 12 and 13, instead of our regular booth on the Green we will be in the Common Room at Second Baptist. There will be a craft for kids (and adults who are young at heart). We will also have a special treat for those who choose to stop by and visit. Come say “Hi” and get some information about the various ministries at the church. Feel free to join us during worship service on the 13th prior to exploring Suffield on the Green!
Welcome Back Sunday – September 20 – 10 a.m. Join us as we officially begin the program year. The Hot Cat Jazz Band will lead the music during the worship service. After worship, join us in Fellowship Hall to learn more about Second Baptist!
Starting Sunday, September 27 join us in the Parlor at 9 a.m. for a time of Reflection, Study, and Prayer. This time prior to the worship service is an opportunity to settle your mind and soul for the week as we discuss various topics.
During the month we have several on-going ministries where we would like to invite you to join:
Prayer Shawl Ministry – Friday, September 11 and 25 – 10 a.m. This recently revived ministry gives individuals the opportunity to come together for a time of prayer and fellowship while creating shawls that are intended to provide love and comfort to their recipients.
Soup Kitchen Ministry – Saturday, September 12. Serving a meal for anyone in need at the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen at South Congregational Church in Springfield, Mass has been a ministry at Second Baptist for around 35 years! If you would like to participate, please call the church office at 860-668-1661.
Special Needs Fellowship – Monday, September 14, 6:30 p.m. This is another long-standing monthly outreach program for our friends with cognitive limitations to give them a safe environment for crafts, singing, and fellowship.
Another ministry that is just beginning is our Cookie Ministry – a group meets at the church for fellowship and to bake cookies. These cookies are then brought to our homebound members and friends for visitation and fellowship – letting them know they are not forgotten and always loved. Additional information on this ministry will be available as details are finalized.
Friday, September 25 – Piano Concert featuring concert pianist Jodie DeSalvo – 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Ms. DeSalvo has captured national and international attention with her classical and jazz interpretations of the masters of keyboard literature. She has performed in Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center. She has been a piano soloist for several world-renown orchestras.
