A Democratic Primary is scheduled to be held in Suffield on August 11. Primaries are an important opportunity for residents to have their voices heard and participate in the democratic process by selecting their preferred candidates for the upcoming general election.
Voter Eligibility:
Only registered voters enrolled in the Democratic Party are eligible to vote in the Democratic Primary.
Voters may verify their registration status and party enrollment by contacting the Registrars of Voters or by using the Connecticut Voter Registration Lookup tool.

August 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Also, August 4 and 6 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voter Registration and Party Enrollment Deadlines
Mail-in Applications – July 24 is the deadline for the Registrar of Voters to receive mail-in voter registration applications and party enrollment applications for participation in the Primary Election.
• Mail-in voter registration applications must be received by Registrar by July 24.
• New voter registration applications postmarked by July 24, or received by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or a designated Voter Registration Agency (VRA) by July 24, may be accepted by the Registrar until 12 noon on August 10.
• Unaffiliated voters who wish to enroll in the Democratic Party by mail must submit an enrollment application that is received by July 24.
In-Person Registration and Enrollment
New voters may register and enroll in person:
• By 12 noon on the business day before the day they intend to vote during the Early Voting period.
• By 12 noon on August 10 and be eligible to vote on Primary Day.
Unaffiliated Voters
• Unaffiliated voters may enroll in the Democratic Party in-person until 12 noon on July 31 and be eligible to vote in the Democratic Primary during Early Voting and on Primary Day.
• Unaffiliated voters may enroll in the Democratic Party in-person until 12 noon August 9 and be eligible to vote on Primary Day
Voters are encouraged to verify their voter registration status and party enrollment before the start of the Early Voting period to ensure they are eligible to participate in the Primary Election.
It is now too late for voters registered with another political party to switch their party affiliation to the Democratic Party and be eligible to vote in the Democratic Primary.
