Say goodbye to the long warm days of summer and hello to the new magic of the stage. But before we look ahead, we want to take a moment to reflect on the success of our New Faces program this past August. It was an absolute joy to welcome fresh talent, see new artists take creative risks and watch our community grow. The passion, dedication and raw talent displayed by everyone involved reminded us exactly why live theatre is important. We are incredibly proud of our new faces, returning faces and directors!
Building on that summer energy and welcoming the shift of the crisp air, Suffield Players is thrilled to welcome the most exciting time of the year; the official launch of the new theatre season of mystery, mirth and miracles. We are thrilled to open our mainstage doors with Patrick Hamilton’s legendary psychological thriller, Angel Street (Gaslight). Prepare to be on the edge of your seat as this gripping drama unfolds. It is the perfect, spine-tingling way to welcome the cooler autumn nights.
Let’s meet the Manninghams: a devoted Victorian couple. Or are they? Strange things seem to be happening in their household…lights dim unexplainably, footsteps are heard in empty rooms and nothing is what it seems in this psychological period thriller. Angel Street (Gaslight) is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat, start to finish!
Under the direction of Krystle Bernier, performances will take place at historic Mapleton Hall (1305 Mapleton Ave, Suffield, Conn.) on October 9, 10, 11*, 16, 17, 18*, 23 and 24 at 8 p.m.. (* 2 p.m. matinees). Subtitled performances for accessibility are Oct 10, 16, and 18. Recommended for ages 13 and up.
Tickets are $22 for general admission with student, senior and group discounts. Opening night is $15 for all patrons. Reservations can be made at www.suffieldplayers.org or by calling 860-668-0837. As seats are limited, early reservations are strongly encouraged. This is the first show of our season which will continue with the 2026 Holiday Benefit Challenge including Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins, based on the book by Eric Kimmel, and Happy Hollandaise! by Tim Koenig (December 2026), Play On! by Rick Abbot (February 2027), and Kimberly Akimbo by David Lindsay-Abaire (May 2027).
