As I begin reviewing the valuable feedback we received through our Community Needs Assessment Survey, one trend is becoming clear: many community members are unaware of the wide range of services and resources available through the library.
With that in mind, my next few Director’s Corner articles will highlight some of the great offerings you may not realize we have. First up: museum passes!
Did you know that your library card gives you access to museum passes that provide free or discounted admission to many area museums? These passes are generously funded by the Friends of Kent Memorial Library and can be reserved in advance through our website or by calling us at 860-668-3896.
Here’s a list of the passes that are currently available:
- Children’s Museum at Holyoke: Half price for six guests.
- Connecticut Museum of Culture and History: Pass allows free entry for 2 adults and 4 children.
- Connecticut Science Center: This pass provides 20% off general admission for up to four (4) people.
- Connecticut State Parks: Admits free 2 adults and 4 children, 12 years and under. This CT State Parks Centers and Historic Buildings Day Pass cannot be used for camping or special events.
- Connecticut Trolley Museum: With a library pass, patrons gain admission to the CT Trolley Museum, and one ride on an antique trolley during their visit. Admission to the CT Fire Truck Museum is also included! During general admission days, patrons visit at no charge. Patrons enjoy a 50% discount off admission during some special events such as Winterfest, Pumpkin Patch, Superhero & Princess Day, and more.
- Connecticut’s Old State House: Admits Free 4 People of any age. Valid for general admission during regular operating hours only. Not valid for group tour admission (adult or school) or special events.
- Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art: Admits two adults and four children for free.
- Hancock Shaker Village: Free admission for 2 adults and all children under the age of 17.
- Mark Twain House: 1) Buy 2 adult tickets for the price of 1 full price adult ticket (2 for 1) or buy 1 adult and 2 child tickets for the price of 1 full price adult ticket (3 for 1) for The Mark Twain House Tour (General House Tour) OR Buy up to 3 Living History Tour (Specialty House Tour) tickets at a discounted rate.
- New Britain Museum of American Art: Admits 4 people
- New England Air Museum: 5 Guests at 50% off regular admission. Ages 3 and Under Free. This pass is not valid for pre-arranged group tours, or special event days. cannot be combined with other offers.
- Norman Rockwell Museum: Admits 2 adults for a reduced Museum admission rate of $10 each and children 18 and under free. Gallery and Studio Tours are an additional cost.
- Riverside Reptiles Education Center: One free admission with paid admission.
- Roaring Brook Nature Center (Children’s Museum (West Hartford)): One free with each paid admission with a maximum four free admissions.
- Slater Memorial Museum: Guest Pass is valid for 1 (one) group up to 5 guests.
- Springfield Museums: Buy 1 full price admission, receive 50% discount on second admission of equal or lesser value.
- Stowe Center for Literacy Activism: Admits 2 guests free.
- Wadsworth Atheneum: Each pass provides up to one (1) free general admission ($22 value) or up to two free Youth (12-17) general admission ($20 value) with the purchase of one Adult or Senior admission. The passes may be used to register for daily public tours at no extra cost. Library ART passes may not be combined with other discounts or group rates. Additional fee applies during annual fundraisers, including Fine Art & Flowers and Festival of Trees
- Zoo in Forest Park: 5 guests for free. Does not include parking fees.
