The Sibbil Dwight Kent Chapter of the DAR Celebrates 130 Years!

On June 10, 1896, a group of women who shared a common heritage in a Revolutionary War ancestor met in Suffield to form the Sibbil Dwight Kent Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

One hundred thirty years later, our Chapter remains devoted to the DAR’s mission to promote historic preservation, to support educational programs, and to promote patriotism among our youth, our members, and within our communities.

A celebration of our Chapter’s 130th birthday and our Nation’s 250th birthday was held on the Suffield Town Green on June 6, 2026. The Chapter members, in partnership with the Suffield Historical Society, gave a tour of notable Revolutionary War patriots buried in the Old Center Cemetery and a demonstration on how to properly clean gravestones. We give special thanks to the Town of Suffield and the America250! CT Commission for their assistance with this event.
