Get Your Tickets Early – It Was a Sell-Out Last Year!!!

Designer Purse Bingo, Battling Hunger One “Bag” at a Time, is Back!

SCA is partnering, again this year, with 3 other area food programs on this exciting fundraiser to be held on Friday, October 26. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall located at 566 Enfield Street in Enfield. Individual tickets are $35 and include 10 bingo games and the stamper. Table reservations can be made for groups of 8 purchasing tickets in advance and will include a bonus pack of 10 games for the group. BYO snacks and drinks! For tickets, call SCA at 860-668-1986.

Brighten Lives in Suffield: Become a Friendly Visitor, Shopper or Telephone Volunteer!

If you are 18 years or older, then you can make a real difference in someone’s life right here in our community! Suffield Community Aid will be offering an introductory training for volunteers Wednesday, October 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in our conference room. A light lunch will be provided. Please pre-register. Need a Little Holiday Cheer? Apply for the SCA’s Holiday Basket Program

The SCA is coordinating the Thanksgiving and Holiday Basket Program for Suffield residents. Residents wishing to receive help for the holidays are encouraged to call Janet at the SCA to see if they qualify at 860-668-1986.

Stay Warm This Winter! We’re Taking Applications for the CT Energy Assistance Program

These government programs are designed to help offset the winter heating costs for financially eligible households so that their health is not jeopardized by the inability to afford critical heat. Please contact SCA to schedule an appointment at 860-668-1986. More information on eligibility is available at www.ct.gov/staywarm.

Some Ongoing Program and Updates

EAA Became SCA on September 1: On August 31st, our new sign was unveiled with board members of the newly renamed Suffield Community Aid on hand. We celebrated with champagne and a cake featuring our new logo! Please take a look at our new website, found at www.suffieldcommunityaid.org. It now features a video created especially for this milestone event!

Parkinson’s Peer Support Group Meets Monthly at the Suffield Senior Center:

The group’s goal is to share ideas and resources in the managements and treatment of Parkinson’s disorder. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month from 10:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. Due to the Columbus Day Holiday, the group will meet on Monday, October 15 instead! Caregivers are welcome and encouraged to attend. Topics vary monthly. Refreshments are served. For more information, call Janet at SCA-860-668-1986.

Check Your Blood Pressure

Suffield Community Aid sponsors free blood pressure clinics for residents of all ages at the Suffield Senior Center on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon. No appointments needed!

Are You a Low or Moderate Income Homeowner in Need of Some Critical Home Repairs?

You may be eligible for a deferred payment loan with no interest through the Ellington Regional Housing Rehab Program for Suffield homeowners. The loan can be used for roofing, septic, well, plumbing, heating, electrical, handicap accessibility, asbestos/lead abatement, carpentry and other repair work on single and multi-family units up to 4 units. Call SCA at 860-668-1986 or call the Ellington Community Development Office directly at 860-870-3132 on Tuesdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for more info.
