Cyclists about to depart from the Suffield Green on Friday, August 5, pose for their traditional photo. They’re heading for the Pan-Mass Challenge, a Saturday-Sunday ride for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The PMC begins at several optional points in Massachusetts and ends in Provincetown, at the tip of Cape Cod. Members of the group above add the Friday ride from Suffield to Sturbridge, one of the Saturday starting points for the full PMC. Suzie Slowik of Rocky Hill, front center, is a cancer survivor who rides with this group as far as she is able. This year she made it 18 miles almost to the Stafford line on Route 190. Several of this group were there to accompany Suzie. Only four rode the full PMC, including Chris Nikolis, second from left, and Patrick McMahon, right rear, both from Suffield.
