History Set to Music

The history of Polish folk music in Suffield has been set to music. Local musician, teacher and historian Jim Turek has written arrangements for the most popular ethnic folk songs brought to Suffield by newcomers at the turn of the nineteenth century.

Original songs may have been very brief. Turek has written introductions and closings for such tunes and will narrate details of each. He has assembled seven talented musicians from Connecticut and Massachusetts to perform in the concert and to burst into occasional song.

The concert will take place on Wednesday, October 5 at 10 a.m. in the former chapel wing of the Suffield Senior Center. The one hour concert is free to anyone wishing to attend.
