Polish Music Concert

On October 5 at 10 a.m. the Polish Heritage Society of Suffield will be hosting a live concert of Polish music at the Senior Center. The orchestra, consisting of seven talented musicians from Connecticut and Western Massachusetts, will perform the most popular ethnic Polish folk songs brought to Suffield by Polish immigrants who settled here in the early 1900’s. Jim Turek, a Suffield resident and professional musician, has assembled the musicians for this free concert and has written the music for the program.

Medicare Workshops

Workshops will be held at Aetna at 10 a.m. on October 11. Health New England at 10 a.m. on October 18, United Healthcare at 10 a.m. on October 25, Connecticare at 10 a.m. on November 1, Healthy Eating/Healthy Living on October 13 at 10:30 a.m., sponsored by Masonicare.

Good nutrition is at the heart of living a healthy lifestyle. Dietician Ann Chickosky will speak about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, eating well. Offering tips, and suggestions for a healthier you.

Eating Well for One or Two

Program will be held on on October 27 at 10:30 a.m. sponsored by Big Y. Come learn easy tips for preparing balanced meals and snacks when cooking for one or two with Big Y’s registered dietitian nutritionist Andrea Luttrell, RDN, LDN. Participants will also receive a gift bag with handouts, coupons and giveaways.

Dinner and a Show

Join us on Sunday, November 6 at 1 p.m. for a first-rate dinner consisting of your choice of beef tenderloin or baked haddock served with mashed potatoes, vegetable, and dessert. Following dinner, enjoy a spectacular magic show by Magic Al. Tickets are on sale at the Senior Center for $10.

10/6: Pork & vegetable teriyaki stir fry over rice and dessert

10/12: Shake ‘N Bake pork chop, mashed potatoes, vegetable and dessert

10/13: Pizza, chips and dessert

10/19: Stuffed peppers, rye bread and dessert

10/20: Seafood salad stuffed pita, sliced cucumbers, dessert

10/26: Herbed baked chicken, oven roasted potatoes, vegetable and dessert

10/27: Italian cold grinder (ham, capicola, genoa salami) with roasted red peppers, red onion & provolone cheese with chips and dessert

10/6: Walmart, pick up begins at 8:30 a.m.

10/14: Lunch at Summer House in Southwick, pick up begins at noon

10/21: Lunch at Chatterley’s in New Hartford, pick up begins at 11 a.m.
