For her exceptional improvement during the 2015-16 school year and continued dedication to improving her language skills in Advanced Placement French, Roseanne Leach is awarded the World Languages Student of the Month for September, 2016. Rosie has shown great progress on the path to expressing herself clearly and comfortably in French. She shows a highly engaged attitude, kindness to others, creativity, and a strong work ethic in class and throughout her high school activities. She also has shown strong initiative to communicate in French both in class and through cultural immersion activities such as a trip to Montreal last spring and a written and video exchange with a class of young high school pastry-chefs-in-training from France.
This season, Rosie is one of the captains of the Suffield Varsity Swim Team. She also sings in chamber choir at the high school and plays handbells in church. Additionally, she serves our town as a proud explorer / cadet for the Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Association. She says she loves learning French because “it makes me think about my own language in a new way. While it may be difficult at times, I think it is cool that I can now hold a conversation with someone who doesn’t know English.” She is working hard on her senior year courses and is excited to finalize and submit college applications. The World Languages Department is excited to start off the new school year with this well-deserved award to Advanced Placement French student Rosie Leach.
