Seussical Jr. is playing at Suffield Middle School on Thursday, February 23, Friday, February 24 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, February 25 at 6:30 pm. Led by Tyler Wolfson, the “wubbulous” Suffield Middle School Drama Club is proud to present Seussical, with approximately 85 students in the cast and “crewssical”.

Mr. Wolfson shared that “Seussical is not only an adventurous combination of Dr. Seuss tales, but also a mashup of diverse musical styles, so it really appeals to everyone!” It features Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz the Bird, the Cat in the Hat, and a bunch of other popular characters, plus new ones inspired by Seuss’s stories. The ensemble is at the heart of the show, supplying the “living fantasy” environment of the sung-through play.

The interwoven stories unravel from the mind of a small boy, his imagination explosively unlocked by the mysterious appearance of a roguish Cat in the Hat. A jungle materializes with a bighearted elephant at the center, Horton, who discovers that a dust-speck drifting on the wind is actually a planet inhabited by microscopic people called Whos. At the same time, the shy Gertrude McFuzz seeks his affections and the not-so-shy Mayzie LaBird impulsively abandons her new egg. Now, Horton must become the sole guardian of both a giant egg and a tiny world, while everyone around him teases and mocks his heroism, thinking he’s lost his mind. Seussical is a thrilling tale about characters discovering their own unique place in the universe and sense of individuality.

Tickets will be sold on the night of each show… just come to the door and you’re good to go! We look forward to seeing you!
