The second annual Family Numeracy Night, combined with the Book Fair sponsored by the PTO, was a success at Spaulding School! Students in preschool through grade two and their parents/guardians came together to engage in numeracy games and meaningful conversations about the mathematics within these games. Students led their parents through math conversations that illustrated their conceptual understanding and knowledge of procedures and skill in performing them flexibly, accurately, and efficiently.

The event was a key measure of the school improvement plan, a part of which focuses on the school’s efforts in mathematics. Classroom teachers routinely partner with the curriculum leaders and instructional coaches in math to strengthen classroom practice to impact student growth.
