The Safe Party Committee (newly operating as Project Grad) is excited to be in the full throes of planning this year’s SHS Class of 2017 celebratory event!
On Saturday, June 10 at 5:30 p.m., students will board chartered buses from Suffield High School for a 6 p.m. departure to the beautiful sights of the Manhattan skyline. Departure onboard Serenity, of the Hornblower Cruises and Events fleet, is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. from Pier 40. In addition to dinner by skyline, we’ll have a DJ, casino-styled game tables, raffles including a grand prize winner, and a few other surprises. The cruise will return to the dock at 12:30 a.m. with an arrival home estimated for 3 a.m.. Time to sign-up is running out so please get those registrations in! The cost per student is $50 and forms, if needed, are available in the SHS main office.
Safe Grad exists for the sole purpose of keeping our graduates safe by providing a substance-free event on the one selected night of graduation celebration. Funds are raised to help offset the per student cost and come through parent/student fundraising and through the generosity of community donors. Each year our sights are set on raising enough money to cover same-year costs in addition to carrying an allowance over for the next up-and-coming senior class.

And finally, this crazy and unpredictable winter has made planning around an unofficial graduation date challenging to say the least. We’d like to formally thank Principal Steve Moccio and the SHS administration, Superintendent Berasi and the BOE for their partnership and flexibility in working through our planning constraints.
