Troop 260 Assistant Scoutmasters Cliff Barron and Art Sikes share the traditional left-handed Boy Scout handshake and pose for the usual ceremonial portrait with Art wearing his new Silver Beaver Award. Cliff was making the award on behalf of the BSA Connecticut Rivers Council at the annual award ceremony on May 7. The highest council-level honor, the Silver Beaver is awarded to an adult Scouter for distinguished service far beyond what would be required of his duties. Art has been active in Scouting for 53 years. He is also Treasurer of the Second Baptist Church and of the Suffield Land Conservancy, Vice President of the Suffield Historical Society, a skilled naturalist, and a prolific genealogist.
