Library Update

At this writing the library renovation and addition project, which has been concentrating on PCB remediation for many months, has not been discussed by the Permanent Building Commission since May 4, and that discussion was brief. The Commission has met once since then, and the discussion that day was limited to the Bridge Street School community center issue. The Commission’s next meeting was planned for July 6.

But there has been some progress. The contract for scraping the gallery ceiling in preparation for the planned pilot test in that room has been awarded to low bidder Haz-Pros, a West Hartford company that has been involved with the library for many months. The work will also entail removing the floor tiles. The preparation work itself could not start before July 1, because funding would not be available before the new fiscal year.
