p10_n89-3_SOTG_Boy_with_BalloonBefore we know it, Suffield’s beloved end-of-summer tradition will be here.

This year’s Suffield on the Green and Craft Fair will feature NEW fun (hint: animal related) that promises enjoyment for the whole family. And the new additions are on top of the standard crowd pleasers of info-packed booths, kid activities, live music, tasty food and so much more.

This year’s celebration takes place September 9-10, 2017 (the weekend after Labor Day) on the Town Greens, at the intersection of Main Street and Mountain Road.

Suffield on the Green and Craft Fair continues a tradition of more than 40 years of showcasing community groups.

NEW for 2017 are two special features:

Kids pony rides — on Saturday only. Hours are 11 a.m.–2 p.m., and 3 p.m.–4 p.m. (times subject to change). Tickets must be purchased for pony rides (to cover costs) at the Friends of Suffield booth near the gazebo. *Note: there’s a weight limit for riders of the ponies.

A dog rescue display by the non-profit Hole In One Animal Rescue — on Sunday only. This rescue group will have adoptable dogs and puppies for people to meet and greet.

Note: No animals can be adopted at the event. Potential adopters can pick up an application and find out how the adoption process works. And Hole In One will have their donation prize wheel to spin, with prizes such as totes, lanyards and gift cards to local businesses. Hole In One plans to be on the North Green on Sunday 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.; however, they’ll take a break to enjoy the Canine Contest, which begins at 2 p.m.

Request: Please bring ANY pet-related donations to Hole In One. Anything they can’t use will be given to other rescue groups that DO use such items. A “wish list” of Hole In One’s “most needed items” can be found on www.FriendsOfSuffield.org (click on the “Suffield on the Green” tab from home page). You can also see more information about this fantastic local rescue group, which has helped more than 150 pets since its founding in 2013.

Suffield on the Green’s beloved and ever-popular Canine Contest will take place again on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. (You must register beginning at 1 p.m.).

Standard fare Continues

Traditional Suffield on the Green activities remain in full force. Local non-profit groups such as Scouts, churches and school groups will share what they do, build awareness for their cause, and raise money through games, contests, etc. Businesses also may introduce themselves to the community, although they cannot sell anything. Political groups from town will be present and share information and conversation.

The very popular – and free – Craft Fair continues. Crafters will be on the Main Green again this year. Yet they will be set up in a more self-contained location rather than directly inter-mingled with non-craft booths. Crafters will sell their hand-made, original crafts –beautiful, delicious, unique, etc.

If you’re in an organization seeking awareness, or a crafter, there may still be time to secure a booth. It’s a great, affordable way to share your group’s cause with the thousands of attendees during the two-day event. People from Suffield and beyond fill the Town’s Greens to enjoy the festive, fair-like atmosphere. Booth locations are going fast – contact the people below and fill out an application on www.friendsofsuffield.org.

For general questions: Contact Becky Tobiasz at 860-805-9517; or e-mail: friends@friendsofsuffield.org.

For Booth reservations (all types – community and craft fair): Contact Lori Sych at 860-668-5122.
