Firefighters Christopher Berkett, left, and Dan Godin have been hired by the Suffield Fire Department.

The Town of Suffield announces the addition of Daniel Godin and Christopher Burkett as full-time paid firefighters to the Suffield Fire Department. Both candidates possess certifications in Firefighter II, Emergency Medical Technician and served as volunteer firefighters.

Active since 2007, Mr. Godin holds the rank of Lieutenant as a volunteer firefighter with the SFD. He maintains Fire Instructor I and Rescue Diver certifications on top of those outlined above. Previously he was an Electrical Journeyman. Human Resources Director Karin Ziemba noted Mr. Godin’s experience and enthusiasm as key strengths, citing a portion of his letter of introduction, “To this day, my adrenaline flows every time I step up into the big red truck, and assist those in need.”

A volunteer with the Simsbury Fire Department since 2010, Mr. Burkett’s certifications also include Rope Rescue Tech, Rescue Core, Pump & Aerial Operator and Hazmat Operational. His prior employment was as an IT Technician at Compucom Systems, Inc.

Fire Chief Charles Flynn, Fire Marshall Michael Thibedeau, four full-time firefighters and 29 volunteers comprise the Fire Department. The department responds to over 500 calls per year while working closely with the Suffield Police Department and Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Association.
