Youth Basketball

As the temperatures change, soon the cold winter months will be here and now is the time to register for recreational basketball!

The basketball program is a fun, non-competitive program that will teach children skill progressions, team work, drills and overall good sportsmanship. The children will get exercise this winter while socializing and having fun!

Kindergarten children will be introduced to the basic skills and fundamentals of basketball in a program specifically designed for beginners.

Children in grades 1 & 2 can participate in the Mini Hoop program, and continue to develop their skills using modified equipment.

The program continues to enhance skills, teamwork, and develop game play appropriate for the respective groupings: Grades 3 & 4, Grades 5 & 6 and Grades 7 & 8.

The Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade programs are held on Saturdays beginning January 6. Grades 3 – 8 girls programs are held on Wednesday and Saturdays and boys programs are held on Thursdays and Saturdays beginning the first week of January.

Volunteer coaches are needed for these programs and this is a great opportunity for parents to share memorable experiences with their children and their friends!

Gym Monitors are needed to work at the various basketball programs. Applications are being accepted now. Applicants must be at least 16 years old to apply. Contact the Parks and Recreation Department for details. Applications are also being accepted now for individuals interested in being referees for grades 3-8 basketball.

Get excited about the upcoming basketball season by participating in our Fast Break Fun clinic on Tuesday, November 28! The clinic is for girls and boys in grades three through eight. Participants will earn offensive and defensive skills in a fun atmosphere. Limited enrollment, please register before November 21.
