The Cerrato family found a nice spot for their photo during their annual trip to Chatham, Massachusetts, Cape Cod's elbow, early this summer.  From the left: Carrie, Elizabeth Peter, Frances (with the Observer), Joanne, Jack, Giada, Jen, and John.

Megan and Kevin McCormick are pictured with their children Molly and Liam and the Observer alongside the giant radio telescope at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico on September 17 just a few days before hurricane Maria hit. They survived the life-changing adventure and made it home safely on the 24th.  The telescope, famous for its role in searching the extra-terrestrial intelligence, was badly damaged, perhaps destroyed.

During a brief trip on a Viking River Cruise in Romania, Ed and Jean Landry got a chance to take the Observer on a visit to Pele's Castle.  Built by royality over forty years in the Transylvania region, the royal extravagance was inaugurated in 1883. It's now a public museum.
