On Friday, October 27, Jimmy Quinn, and 35 recruits from Class 23, were sworn into the Hartford Fire Department, New England’s best Class 1 Fire Department.

Out of 700 applicants, 36 recruits were successful in completing a grueling 16 week training program which began in July. Jimmy is seen here being pinned by his grandmother, Patricia English, at his graduation ceremony. Jimmy has always wanted to give back to the community and began as a Suffield volunteer fire fighter at age 16 while attending Suffield Academy. Jimmy also has earned his EMT certification and volunteered on the Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Assoc. Earlier this year, Jimmy graduated from Capital Community College with a 3.9 GPA, earning an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science.

He credits Chief Flynn and the members of the Suffield Fire Department for their constant support, which increased his desire to work in public safety. In 2016, he was recognized as a top responder for the Town of Suffield. Jimmy is thrilled to be a part of the busiest fire department in Connecticut. Congratulations, Jimmy!
