Sandy and Mike Cahill are pictured with the Observer during a November trip to France. Behind them is a World War II German gun emplacement at Pointe du Hoc in Normandy, a key strong point between Utah and Omaha beaches of the Allied landings on June 6, 1944.
Pictured among the lounge chairs by the edge of a giant pool at the Moon Palace, a major resort in Cancun, Mexico, are Gerri Moodie, left and Chris Anderson. They took the Observer there in October, but had little occasion to read while they enjoyed their time at the pool and visited ancient Mayan pyramids.
