Jack Marcy, president of the Connecticut Valley Minerals Club, sets out a deposit of pyrite in the big display he assembled for a February 3 display at the temporary Kent Memorial Library. Many visitors came and enjoyed his explanations of the great variety of rock samples. Marcy visits and talks in local schools and libraries, encouraging interest in this appealing specialty. The club meets monthly at the Springfield Science Museum, with interesting programs. See CVmineralclub.org for more information. Did you know the Connecticut State Mineral is the almandine garnet?
