In addition to their birth date and their parents, Allyssa and Alexa Bergamini have shared outstanding careers as athletes, especially in the Suffield Soccer program and at Suffield High School, where this year’s soccer team won the NCCC (North Central Connecticut Conference) championship and reached the quarter finals in the State’s. Allyssa and Alexa have also been stars as hurdlers in track and field.

This year they ventured to Florida in November with the Connecticut Football Club and played at the Disney Soccer Showcase, which bills itself as the ultimate place for top clubs to be seen by hundreds of soccer coaches looking for prospective student athletes. The twins evidently played well there, for they were offered and have now accepted scholarships at Georgia College, in west central Georgia. This institution, described as Georgia’s designated public liberal arts university, has about 6,000 undergraduate students and 1,000 in graduate school. Hoping to improve its soccer program, Georgia seems to have chosen well with the Bergaminis.

Daughters of Marcy and Vinnie Bergamini, the girls have grown up in Suffield. They say they’re ready to learn about the South and enjoy some better winter weather. Both are undecided, so far, as to academic focus possibilities, where Georgia will offer plenty of choice.
