At the end of the shift on a warm afternoon in late April, Rafferty Grading’s big pavement miller crawls around the Bridge Street Corner from its task at that end of Thrall Avenue. Its overnight resting place was a wide spot just a few dozen yards down Bridge Street. This year’s renovation of Thrall Avenue entails milling off the surface and laying two layers of new asphalt mix, while several short sections require rebuilding in depth. Roadside drainage improvements began last fall.
