These happy folks posed on August 3 in front of the Soldier's Monument to celebrate three riders departing for the Pan-Mass Challenge. The three were planning to ride the entire challenge, which ended in Provincetown, at the tip of Cape Cod; some of the others rode along a short way for good luck. The three, who did in fact complete their three-day, 232-mile challenge, are Chris Nikolis at the right edge of the monument, Patrick McMahon at the left edge, and their friend Chuck Steedman, two spots left of Patrick. The PMC is the largest athletic medical fundraiser, raising over $600 million since 1980 for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Chris and Denise Nikolis also manage the PMC Kids Ride in Suffield.
