The Suffield Historical Society will meet on Wednesday, November 14 at the Suffield Senior Center at 7 p.m. The presentation will provide meaningful background to the Soldier’s Monument standing erect on the Center Green.
Guest speaker is Pamela Baldini whose research brings names, personal stories and tales of sacrifice from the Suffield men who marched off to fight in the Civil War. She details the conscription laws and the phenomena of substitute soldiers which contributed to the saying “the rich man’s war, but the poor man’s fight.”
